The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are over. After all the years of anticipation, I find it slightly hard to comprehend. Whatever will we do with ourselves? What do we have to look forward to now? I'm a little bit bereft.
Still, now that they are finished, I can safely write up my behind-the-scenes experiences as a Games-maker, with no fear that Seb Coe will march in and sack me on the spot.
So, over the next few posts, I shall finally write about all the things I've been wanting to tell for ages. The things I got to see, the people I got to meet, the places I was (and wasn't) able to go. From the G4S security debacle to the opening ceremony, from brand protection to empty seats, I will give some kind of perspective of what the Olympics felt like to a volunteer, and what it was like being in London for the greatest show on Earth.
I will also discuss the sports I saw, but probably mostly Archery, Weightlifting, and Water Polo, as the others have all had plenty of coverage.
Right then, having promised all that, it looks like I'd best get on with cobbling together the first instalment....
